Here’s what’s new from Stockfox this week:
  • What the future holds for gold.
  • Elon Musk buys Twitter: what now?
  • How have Stockfox’s latest tips performed?

Market Summary

The graph below of the SPDR Gold Shares (ETF) shows how the price of gold has tracked over the past six months. You can see it has slumped recently because the US dollar has been increasing. This can be linked to the weakening of other foreign currencies, such as the Japanese yen, for example — what with the economic uncertainty and geopolitical tensions in Europe.

This is important because investors are moving funds into the US as a safe haven. Now that the price of gold is down to a reasonable level, we believe investment opportunities will arise in the near future and encourage investors to keep a keen eye out for them.

What’s Trending

Elon Musk, the owner of Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA), agreeing to buy social media platform Twitter (NYSE: TWTR) for US$44 billion has sent investors and Twitter users into a tailspin. Such a big deal means there is a lot at stake for shareholders.

But how exactly will investors (and Twitter users) be affected by a new company owner? Have a read of Investopedia’s article here to find out what the impacts of the world’s richest person’s bid to buy Twitter will be.

Tip of the Week

This week’s tip of the week is for an oil and gas exploration and production company well-placed to benefit from rising energy prices stemming from supply disruptions and geopolitical tensions.

We’ve issued three new tips this week. After a sharp recovery, rising costs and supply chain pressures are affecting The Warehouse Group leading us to take profits while we’re ahead. Beach Energy has a positive outlook due to industry pressures. 1-800-Flowers hasn’t performed to our expectations, with its stock price falling after turning in a disappointing profit result, so we posted a SELL tip to reduce further losses.
